You know, if you paint furniture any time at all people get the word that you do it. At the very least, people that know you. And in just a little while stuff will begin to show up on your front porch and at your day job and recently, at a dinner party Big Daddy attended.
I just love that little scalloped edge of the shelf and those legs! Good, solid and made of oak.
My kind of piece.
I had a little bit of Junque Boutique Mason Jar Blue milk paint left over from the bench we built for the last market we did so I mixed up the last bit of it and went crazy.
Now, unlike the bench project this table started to chip and crackle right away. To me Mason Jar is the perfect aqua color. Not too blue, not too green.
Perfect.
Why in the world did I wait so long to try Milk Paint?
Beats me.
I used to think I wanted complete control of how much paint comes off of a piece of furniture that I had painted. But there is just something so lovely about this chipping, crackling and peeling. I am truly in love with it.
What color?
Have a great week!
Paige

I was wondering – Do you do anything to the piece before you paint it to make the peeling and crackling happen? Or does it do it naturally? And do you sand it after it starts to chip? And then do you seal it with something to prevent further crackling? I'm just thinking about painting some of my old pieces and had some questions. Thanks!!

Hi Leslie. I do absolutely nothing to the pieces I've painted with milk paint, it just chips on its own. It's a totally random occurrence. I don't sand it at all, just use a soft brush to clean away the chips then I apply a coat of hemp oil to seal it. Then is stops the process and seals the finish. Now on new wood with no stain or finish it won't chip at all. I was scared to death of milk paint for years, now I just love it. Have fun!

Beautiful color! I had a table just like that many years ago. Well, before the paint! Thanks for sharing that at Before and After Wednesday.

I am crazy for aqua right now and I have yet to try milk paint. I keep seeing it and the results, which I love. Now that I know it comes in aqua, I have to get some!

Paige,
I have that same little table (it's in my hallway). I like it's makeover, so much, that it will be featured at my arty this week. Thanks so much for sharing it at my party.
Blessings,
Linda
