I’ve been working like a crazy girl for the past three weeks on my May Market pile. I have got fewer pieces than I’ve had previously for a sale, but the ones I’ve chosen are way cooler, I think.
Big Daddy is also in agreement.
Today I wanted to share with you an odd little project that turned out so cute!
This is what I had to work with:
Like I said. Odd.
I got it for $1 at my SA. I am sure it was only a buck because they couldn’t fiigure out what to do with it either.
I have been looking at this weird piece of wood for weeks and trying to figure out what to do with it.
Then it hit me.
First I painted it with chalkboard paint.
Two coats of Rustoleum.
I love this paint. It works better and dries faster than any other brand that I’ve tried.
Next I dug through my stash of knobs but really wasn’t happy with any of the ones I had on hand.
Note to self:
Make a Hobby Lobby run.
Then I remembered something I saw on one of my favorite blogs
http://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com
Christy is amazing and so is her lovely blog!! If you’ve never visited it, GO!
You can thank me later.
And you definatly will.
She did a post last week about a precious little vanity table she rescued and made over and she put these beautiful porcelain knobs on it that she found at Homegoods.
Who knew?
Well I do NOW!
And the price?
I carefully measured and marked for where I wanted my knobs to go.
and then I paced the kitchen floor waiting for Big Daddy to come down stairs and drill the holes for me.
He’s a very nice man! And puts up with all kinda CRAZY from me on days like today.
Next came the chalkboard part. I used the method where you print out what you want the chalkboard to say then flip the paper over and rub chalk ALL OVER the back of the paper.
Then, I very carefully centered the text on the board and traced it with a pen.
All that was left was to fill in the letters and clean up the chalk smudges.
Qtips are your friends
I did do a little light distressing all around the edges.
Pretty cute for $7!
I would probably change out the wording seasonally if it were up to me.
So what do you think?
Hope you are have a wonderful Sunday!
Paige

Love it! This was a great option from something that was oddly shaped anyway. It turned out great and it's useful.

Thanks!

Really cute! I have a very similar board that I've had since the '80's! It was a sign that has long since faded. This is a great idea for it! Pinned
