A couple of months ago one of my coworkers had a proposition for me. She needed a bedside table for her daughter’s bedroom. I had one. Would I consider a trade? Yes. Keep talking. Turns out she had, ‘an old desk’ to trade. Could I come and look at it as well as her daughters room? Yes. So this is what I find when I walk in her basement.
I said ‘Tammy, honey are you sure you want to trade THIS for a night table?’ Turns out she just wants this thing out of her basement. No problem. So, Tammy’s daughter got a cute bedside table painted in Annie Sloan Old White & I got a free secretary in perfect shape!
Everyone involved was thrilled!
I’ve said this before about turning on the Vacancy Sign in my neighborhood. All it takes is for me to back my Jeep into the driveway. The day I did this I struck a deal for the sweet little secretary with my neighbor and wonderful friend Donna. She asked my plans for the piece and I told her the only color that ever entered my mind for this was Old White. I try NOT to take custom work, it makes my stomach hurt. True statement. So I try real hard to paint, then show people. Donna loved the idea so no stomach ache.
I decided not to paint the inside mostly because well, who would volunteer for that?? It looked like it would be an awful job. Besides, the little pigeon holes were perfect. If anyone ever used this as a desk you would never know it, it was perfect. All it needed was a little light distressing.
