When we first moved in to our house almost every room had wallpaper in it. Not just any wallpaper, Laura Ashley floral wallpaper, even in the kitchen. The first night we spent in this house I was sitting in the master bathroom ( in the only place you can sit in my master bathroom) staring at the pink and purple hydrangea wallpaper and it hit me: oh, my God! This wallpaper is upside down! So I hired a company to come and remove it, while Big Daddy was out of town for a week. They ran screaming after 4 hours. It seems ALL the wallpaper was hung on unprimed sheetrock. In the whole house. It wasn’t going ANYWHERE. Except with a stick dynamite . Poop!!! So we primed it SEVERAL times and painted over it and it worked!
About a year or so ago I got it in my crazy little brain that I wanted a ‘slight’ remodel in that bath. I had a vision! And it included breadboard. So I hired another company. This time Big Daddy was in town and at work.
This was truly done on a shoestring of a budget. I collected lots of stuff & Ideas before the carpentry began, and chipmunked them away in my closet. The biggest score of the entire job was the ceramic floor tile. They were 37 cents each, on clearence at Lowes! I had to go to two stores to get it all but I got enough for both of the upstairs bathrooms.
The vanity was oak and I painted black. We had the brushed nickel pull left over from our kitchen cabinet install. I am thinking about changing them out to mercury glass one I got at Hobbie Lobby. I still woul like to add some legs to the vanity, turned ones. Both mirrors were from Lowes. The matelesse shower curtain was a Christmas gift from my sweet husband two years prior. When I say chipmunked, I mean it. I was working a plan. The towels I fell in love with, and used a coupon at World Market. I have collected black and white transfer ware for years. Oh, you can add that to my Problem List. That seemed like a perfect thing to use in here as art. You can see them in the mirrors.
Then there’s these two monkeys.
You can’t do anything by yourself in this house.
