Note to Self:
Maybe it’s not a good idea to go out in the garage on a rainy night at 8 pm in your feety pajamas just because your Paint Jones is kicking in.
The hard, cold truth is the light in our garage is CRAP! Your best bet is a bright & sunny day from ten o’clock until two o’clock ONLY.
Fact.
Well, you know I get something in my brain and I can not let it go. So I went out there and painted on that Empire library table for about an hour. And I was SO pleased . . . .
Then the next day the sun came out and
I was oh so disappointed.
The table looked blue.
Not at all what I had in mind.
So when I got off work on Thursday I went to my local Annie Sloan dealer to look at ALL the greys and try to get inspired.
No dice.
I could not make my mind up to save my life. As I was driving home I pulled in the North Asheville Ace Hardware to check put their (small) selection of Amy Howard paint. Ace does not carry the full line but all I wanted to look at were greys anyway.
I left with a big grin on my face!!!
Much better!
See how blue that little shelf underneath looks? And the spot I missed up near the top?
I chose Selznick Grey and I really love it! It is a light to medium, WARM grey. EXACTLY what I had in my crazy head.
And the sun was out, so I drug that table out in the driveway and sanded the top off.
Completely and totally
Unsupervised
Yes I still have all my fingers and toes.
I chose Minwax Dark Walnut and I just love the way it turned out!
I already had a pair of these cute little wooden knobs from Hobby Lobby. The stickers were still on them, $.69! Why in the world do I only buy two??
Beats me.
I’m very pleased with the top. It was in pretty rough shape when I brought it home.
Those corbels were an awsome yard sale find this morning! Remember, Big Daddy is out of town and I am unsupervised.
I got these four antique book there this morning also. Check out the titles.
Uncle Tom’s Cabin

Who gives this stuff away??

I love the way this turned out. The grey and the walnut is gorgeous. The corbel for $5, are you joking ? As you rightly said, who throws these amazing things away!?
The pair for $5! I thought it was a mistake.
Love the way the table came out…gorgeous. Can't believe you got the corbels for a song. You need to be unsupervised more often!
I love that you have footy jammies, lol. Gorgeous job on the table.
Gorgeous table! And I LOVE those old books too.
Beautiful! I love that gray. Graphite was the first Amy Howard paint I tried, and I love it too, but it's definitely not warm. I seem to love every new color I see! 🙂 Visiting from Concord Cottage, have a great day!
Perfection! I just painted a piece with a color that I thought was grey but turned out blue too! I'll look into this color, it's beautiful.
Thanks for sharing on Something to Talk About!
