Every Spring of my life I redo our front porch.
And until this year I have always gone with bright colors, so bright that I would never ever use them inside the house. Historically I have really enjoyed the bright (my Mama would have referred to them as LOUD) colors but round about the last of July……..I am sick to death of them. So in March as I was making my annual Spring Pilgrimage to every jointing town that sells outdoor furniture and the like,
I found these chairs.
Now, to me these look an awful lot like these:
For less than half the price and they can survive out on my porch or patio.
I could not have walked away from these if I’d tried.
At under $50 each these all weather wicker chairs are one heck of a deal.
They have to look and feel of real , weathered wicker. And moreover, they are hella comfortable! Even Big Daddy says so and he’s like The Princess & The Pea. Everything has to be just right.
So with these two Better Homes and Gardens Camrose Farmhouse wicker chairs, the neutral front porch was born. I love the feel and color of these chairs, the almost coastal vibe they have. I wanted to put the entire porch together with that same feel. I make new pillow covers for our pooch every Spring so those were my first project. The black and white buffalo check that I dug out of my stash worked perfectly.
The bench is new to the porch. I found it at our Habitat Restore for $29. It was originally in my Vintage Market Days pile but when time to finish all of the furniture in that pile ran out I ended up keeping it. Good thing, it just fits in the space at the end of the porch.
At the other end of the porch is the black cabinet we’ve had out here for a couple of Summers. Its an old TV cabinet that a coworker of mine grabbed off her street on Trash Day! There wasn’t a thing in the world wrong with it and it provided great storage.
We also use this piece as a serving area. The height is perfect of it. It’s nice in the evenings to have a spot to put drinks or snacks without having to run back and forth in to the kitchen. No too bad for something picked up off the curb 😉
Thank y’all for stopping by. Have a great week!
Paige

Thank you for this post. I have been thinking my deck could use some color and was going to buy new (loud) rug. I am rethinking that.

The front porch looks great. It draws you in and offers a warm welcome. I can picture a cold glass of lemonade and a good book and waving to the neighbors walking by.

This is gorgeous Paige – I’d be out on your porch all day long! You’ve given me plenty of good ideas for a long narrow porch (like mine) so thankyou! I’ll be featuring your neutral front porch this Wednesday at House of Hollingsworth Blog.xx

I saw your porch picture featured on Kate Hollingsworth’s page and couldn’t resist checking out your entire blog about the porch makeover. I absolutely love it, it’s so inviting and elegant. And it’s great that you were able to find and recycle things in this stylish and individual way, too. Thanks for sharing your style and talent.

Lovely transformations! I totally understand about the “loud” colors. I’m feeling the same way about my patio decor, and think I’m going to go with a black and white theme. Thanks for sharing.
